Donovan sets Antarctic Record

Richard Donovan (No. 40) in action in Antarctica

Ireland's Richard Donovan set a new record in Antarctica on 2 December 2011 when running 100 miles in -25c windchill temperatures through snow and ice.

Richard undertook the challenge to coincide with the 100-year anniversary of Man reaching the South Pole.

It is the first time somebody has covered 100 miles on foot in the Antarctic Circle in such a short time frame. His exact time was 24:35:02 hrs.

During the Antarctic trip, Richard also organised the Antarctic Ice Marathon & 100k, the southernmost running events in the world. See www.icemarathon.com.
