Eoin Keith wins 55km Challenge

Eoin Keith en route to winning the 2011 Art O'Neill Challenge

UltraRunning Ireland's Eoin Keith won the gruelling Art O'Neill Challenge on 7 January 2011.

The event started at midnight at Dublin Castle and proceeded through the Dublin and Wicklow mountains to retrace the epic historical journey of Art O'Neill and Red Hugh O'Donnell in 1592.

Aside from the tough terrain, weather conditions this year made navigation and running extremely difficult. However, Keith prevailed to retain his title and overcame a handicap of less than ideal preparation since breaking his collarbone a couple of months ago.

There were 324 finishers while 132 were forced to drop out.

Eoin's winning route and statistics can be accessed here.
