The reigning Comrades ultra champion, Stephen Muzhingi, tops the field for the World 50km Trophy Final in Galway on 29 August.
Muzhingi won the legendary 89km race in South Africa in 2009, running an incredible 5:23:27 for the second fastest time in history. He subsequently retained the title in 2010 ahead of 19,000 other competitors from around the world.
Stephen's 50km split of 2:49:44 in the Two Oceans 56km race in 2010 makes him the top ranked athlete in Galway. Also joining him will be fellow Zimbabwean Collen Makaza, whose 50km split of 2:50:45 at Two Oceans ranks him third in the Galway race field.
These elite ultra athletes will help to ensure an incredible race in Galway. The World 50km Trophy Final will be part of the Galway City Marathon.
