Lucas Nonyana (South Africa), the 2009 World 50km Trophy Final winner, will defend his title in Galway on 29 August.
Nonyana, pictured second from left above, is part of a large squad from the Republic of South Africa, who are destined for the race.
Also included in the men's race are Joseph Mphuthi (2:50:09) and Sandile Ngunuzza and Peter Muthubi, who passed through the first 50km (31 miles) of this year's Two Oceans 56km event in 2:53:14 and 2:53:51, respectively.
In the women's event, Lesley Train and Leanne Juul have both confirmed their participation for South Africa.
The World 50km Final is part of the Galway City Marathon.
