Coppinger 4th in Anglo Celtic Plate

Ireland's Aisling Coppinger finished 4th in the Anglo Celtic Plate on 19th June 2010.

The race was won by Emily Gelder (ENG), with Nathalie Christie (SCO) and Gail Murdoch (SCO) in second and third, respectively.

The men's competion was dominated by England. Brian Cole won in a time of 7:07:20 ahead of compatriots David Kirkland and Allan Small.

Two Irish international athletes also took part in the men's competition.

Newcomer, Chris O'Neill, ran very strongly over the first 50km and was on target for 7:20 - 7:25. However, his very recent endeavours in the Comrades Ultramarathon, where he ran well under 7 hours on the tough uphill 56-mile course, took their toll. He withdrew at the 70km point when it was proving impossible to maintain his pace of the first half. Chris is a very bright prospect for the Irish 100km team.

Meanwhile, John O'Regan, still suffering the effects of last month's World 24, effectively used the occasion for a long training run.
