World 24 Champs - Irish Results

Picture of Eddie Gallen, Ireland's best finisher at World 24

Eddie Gallen was the best Irish finisher at the 2010 European and World 24 Hour Championships. Eddie set an excellent new PB of 223.898 km, beating his previous best by almost 8 kilometres.

John O'Regan covered 205.058 km to finish strongly, but unfortunately the challenge of both Thomas Maguire (188.270 km) and Eoin Keith (156.924 km) effectively became undone when both suffered problems in the final third of the event.

Thomas and Eoin have world class PBs of 248.392 km and 237.206 km, respectively, and pushed the boundaries from the outset. It's a strategy that doesn't always work, of course, but a necessary risk for high team placings.

On this occassion, a significant new PB for Eddie Gallen and a new Irish 100-mile record of 15:15:52 by Thomas Maguire were the highlights for the Irish team.
