World 24 Champs - Update 2

Thomas Maguire and Eoin Keith in action at European and World 24 Champs

The Irish team continues its fantastic progress after 12 hours of running at the European and World 24 Hour Championships. The event is taking place in Brive, France.

Thomas Maguire suffered some knee problems, but recovered, and has started to make a strong surge. He covered 127 km in the first half of the race while Eoin Keith ran 123 km. Both are currently on target to break the Irish 24-Hour record. Eddie Gallen, Ireland's third scorer is on a tally of 118 km at the half-way point and also looking very strong and untroubled. It appears likely he will also set a significant new personal best.

John O'Regan has run 112 km, also on course for a PB, and is very determined and continually moving up in position.

Shingo Inoue (JPN) continues to lead the individual race ahead of Scott Jurek (USA) and Serge Arbona (USA).

The team competition is very tight. Ireland is moving up the rankings. With 12 hours to go, anything can happen in this competition.

Given these exciting developments, we will provide another update for 14 hours at 23:30 hrs GMT.
