Thomas Maguire's stunning victory in the Monaco 24 earns him Performance of the Year for UltraRunning Ireland.
Thomas ran a total of 248.392km (154.344 miles) to win the IAU-labelled Monaco 24-Hour race on 22nd November. His performance was an elite Grade A standard and propelled him into the top 5 in the world rankings for 2009. The distance, which is the equivalent of running almost six full marathons in a single day, was also a new event record for the Monaco 'No Finish Line' race.
Thomas already holds the Irish 100km record with a time of 7:05:06 and set a new Irish 100-mile record of 15:21:55 during the course of his 24-Hour run.
Given that Eoin Keith finished 5th at the World Championships this year, the prospects are very good for the Irish 24-Hour team.
