Ireland's Richard Donovan will make a return to competitive running at the Antarctic 100k on 15th December.
The Antarctic 100k is the world's southernmost ultramarathon and takes place at 80 Degrees South on mainland Antarctica. The race is part of the Antarctic Ice Marathon & 100k event, also organised by Donovan.
This 100k presents a truly formidable and genuine Antarctic challenge with underfoot conditions comprising snow and ice throughout, an average windchill temperature of -20C, and the possibility of strong Katabatic winds to contend with. Furthermore, the race takes place at an altitude of 3,000 feet.
The Antarctic Ice Marathon & 100k is an IAU-labelled event and a full member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
