7 Marathons 7 Continents Record

Followng a review of the documentation, the Book of Alternative Records has now independently verified Richard Donovan's 7 Marathons on 7 Continents as a new World Record. He completed the task in 5 days 10 hours 8 minutes from 31st January - 5th February 2009.

Although he travelled alone, Richard enjoyed the support of major city marathon organisers in each location along the way.

The biggest hurdle was logistics. He flew from the Russian Novo Base within the Antarctic Circle to Cape Town (Africa), Dubai (Asia), London (Europe), Toronto (North America), Santiago (South America) and Sydney (Australia). It was all done on the cheap, and the idea was conceived and executed within a few weeks. One flight delay or cancellation and the record would have slipped. See www.worldmarathonchallenge.com.
