IAU-Labelled Races

As part of the process of obtaining an International Association of Ultra Runners (IAU) label for an event, the organisers must approach UltraRunning Ireland for approval. We welcome and encourage all such approaches to help ensure that measurement and monitoring standards are met for ultra events. Race organisers can download a URI Licence Application here.

Planned Irish IAU-Labelled Races

The Celtic 100k in Galway was the first IAU-labelled race in Ireland. The 2009 race doubled as the Home Nations International competition between Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. It will not take place in 2010, but will be operated once again in 2011.

Non IAU-Labelled Races

Organisers of standard distance road or track races, such as 50 km, 100km, 50 miles or 100 miles, should also contact UltraRunning Ireland to ensure their event is recognised as an official race (even if they are not looking for an international label). In addition to accurate measurement and proper monitoring, UltraRunning Ireland will expect appropriate organisational standards to be met for the event.
