We were extremely sad to hear of the recent untimely death of Stuart Mangan at 26 years of age. He was an extremely positive and inspiring individual.
Stuart came from a different discipline - rugby - but inspired an ultramarathon race.
He was paralysed in a rugby accident on 5 April 2007 and subsequently required round the clock care. Ireland's Olympic rower, Gearoid Towey, was one of many who sought a way to raise funds for the Stuart Mangan Trust. He contacted members of the ultrarunning community and clearly put lots of energy into launching the Art O'Neill Challenge - a 55km night-time race - to raise funds for the cause.
We extend our deepest sympathy to Stuart's family and friends on their great loss.
