Thomas finished 12th at the 2006 World 100km Championships in South Korea, setting an Irish record of 7:05:06 in the process. He won the 2007 North Pole Marathon in record time, the 2008 Namibia Ultra Desert Marathon in record time, and the 2009 Irish National 100km Championships in Galway. Thomas was also part of the Irish men's team that finished 5th in the 2007 European 100km Championships and 8th in the World 100km Championships. In November 2009, he set a stunning new Irish record of 248.392km for 24 hours when winning the 'No Finish Line' race in Monaco.
